Technical Requirements
You won’t need any special equipment to attend the conference—just a computer with speakers and an Internet connection running a web browser and the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. Attendees with webcams can video chat with others, and if you've got a Twitter account, you can Tweet along with the sessions! For more information, you can read our FAQ.
- What are the recommended requirements?
-
To participate in the ONS Radiation eConference, you will need at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Mozilla Firefox 3.6, Google Chrome 3.0, or Apple Safari 4 or higher. You will also need the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player.
Also keep in mind:
- High-speed Internet access is highly recommended for an optimal experience in the virtual environment and is required to watch the video-streamed presentations.
- You will need to disable any pop-up blockers.
- Cookies and JavaScript should be enabled.
- Your screen should have a display resolution of at least 1024×768px.
- When you visit the virtual environment, an automatic system check will run. This will confirm that your system meets these basic requirements for the platform.
- Why don't I hear any sound in the presentation?
-
Make sure your speakers are on and the volume is turned up. If you still don't hear the audio, try reloading the page.
- Do I need to download any special plug-ins or applications?
-
No, you do not need to download any additional software beyond your Internet browser and Adobe Flash Player, version 10 or higher.
- If my machine doesn't meet these minimum requirements, can I still attend?
-
You will still be able to access the environment, but may not experience optimal load times or playback. If your Adobe Flash Player is an older version, you may experience errors loading the Virtual Experience. In this case, we recommend that you upgrade your Flash Player.
- What if I have a small monitor?
-
The Virtual Experience automatically adjusts the display to fit your monitor. You will still be able to access all available content.
- What if I am on wireless?
-
You can still access the virtual experience from a wireless connection but may experience longer than normal load times. Some content files can be very large in size, in which case you may experience longer than normal download times as well.
- What if I'm behind a firewall?
-
The Virtual Experience Platform v5.0 is designed to work with most firewall and proxy settings. However, if you are experiencing connectivity issues to the experience itself, contact your system administrator, or the Virtual Experience support staff listed in the footer of the webpage.
- What if I still have technical questions?
- Technical support questions will be addressed by our virtual experience platform provider. Simply send an email to radiation11@6connex.zendesk.com with a description of your issue. Upon emailing, you will receive an email to confirm that your request has been submitted.
