AOCNP/AOCNS Review
Wednesday, November 9 • Noon – 5
Thursday, November 10 • 8 am – 4 pm
This course is the first review related to oncology advanced practice
nursing that addresses the differentiation of oncology APN practice as
identified in the most current role-delineation study. The overall objective
of the review is to help oncology APNs prepare for the AOCNS and AOCNP
examinations. Speakers will address commonalities in oncology APN practice
as well as specific content related to the clinical nurse specialist and
nurse practitioner role in breakout sessions. This review will focus on
the APN role in cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis and staging, treatment,
psychosocial aspects, oncologic emergencies, end-of-life care, and research
utilization. The separate NP portion will emphasize professional practice,
coordination of care, symptom management (including the challenges of
comorbidity and toxicity management), and the APN’s role in working
with those at risk for hereditary cancers. The CNS breakout will emphasize
professional practice, coordination of care (including case management),
and symptom management and will review the additional roles of the CNS—educator,
consultant, and administrator. Attendees will receive 14 continuing-education
credits upon completion of the course.
Course tuition includes detailed handout materials, lunch, coffee,
and water on November 9 and 10 and breakfast on November 10.
Course is full.
