Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee consists of seven members whose overall objectives are to recruit and slate Board of Directors and Nominating Committee candidates; slate SIG coordinator/coordinator-elect candidates; ensure a strong ballot; present the ballot to the voting membership; oversee and maintain the integrity of the election process; and support succession planning throughout ONS leadership. In short, the Nominating Committee oversees all of the national election processes in ONS.
In addition to the above tasks, the ONS Nominating Committee is an advocate of voting among the membership, and is continuously looking for innovative ways to increase voting during our national elections. A recent survey found that the primary reason for members not voting in the past is that they did not know the candidates. The nominating committee has instituted the following measures to address this. In addition to the information provided via ONS News and online in the election area, a downloadable podcast will be posted to on the ONS website, where all candidates will be asked to respond to three specific questions. These podcasts are available to all members; Letters from the candidates will be posted from candidates on the Chapters Virtual Communities; and all chapters were asked to dedicate one of their meetings to the election, during the election period.
With your help we can increase the number of members who vote in our election. Please exercise your right and vote, and encourage your peers to vote. Your votes really do make a difference!
