The Regional Cancer Center Receives ONS Employer Recognition Award
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) has selected The Regional Cancer Center (RCC) in Erie, PA, as the recipient of its 2012 Employer Recognition Award for medium-sized employers. This award recognizes employers who show exemplary support of their registered nurses working in oncology. The award will be presented during ONS’s 37th Annual Congress in New Orleans, LA, on May 3–6.
The RCC recognizes their oncology nurses by paying 100% of ONS national and local chapter member fees, paying for nurses to attend the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Trainer Course, and paying for nurses to attend ONS Congress and fall meetings. The RCC requires all oncology nurses to obtain their certification and pays all the costs for books and study guides as well as test fees and recertification.
“External recognition by this national organization validates our hard work and substantiates what we’re doing to support our nurses’ clinical skills and ongoing educational opportunities,” said Richard Cogley, MD, Chairman of the Board of The Regional Cancer Center. “The award assures our patients that the care we provide is specially designed to meet their needs and optimize their care.”
As a medium-sized employer, ONS’s award to The Regional Cancer Center includes three free registrations to an ONS educational activity plus ONS bucks to be used for publications or other items.
