Wood is the renal cancer research coordinator at Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute in Cleveland, OH. Her lecture, titled “Advances in Renal Cell Carcinoma: Optimizing Patient Outcomes,” provided an overview of the disease, diagnosis, and surgical management, with a primary focus on the targeted therapies and nursing management of patients receiving these agents. The lectureship award recognizes and supports Wood’s excellence in clinical nursing practice. An article based on her lecture will appear in the August issue of the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing.

“Being acknowledged by my peers and mentors for doing something I love is the highest honor I could receive,” said Wood. “It’s a privilege to guide patients and family members through their treatment and to share expertise I’ve gained through these experiences with others.”

Wood received her bachelor and master of science in nursing degrees from Kent State University in Kent, OH. She is an active member of ONS, the Cleveland Chapter of ONS, the ONS Clinical Trial Nurse and Targeted & Biological Therapies Special Interest Groups, American Society of Clinical Oncologists, and co-chair of the Kidney Cancer Association Nursing Advisory Board.
