Michelle Wallace, RN, BSN, OCN®, Receives 2012 ONS Excellence in Radiation Therapy Nursing Award

Michelle Wallace, RN, BSN, OCN®, is the recipient of the 2012 Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Excellence in Radiation Therapy Nursing Award. Wallace is a nurse clinician in radiation oncology at Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak, MI. This award recognizes her as an expert oncology nurse in the field of radiation oncology who made significant contributions to the field through outstanding patient care. She was recognized with this award during ONS’s recent 37th Annual Congress in New Orleans, LA.
“It is an honor to be the 2012 recipient of this prestigious award,” said Wallace. “This accomplishment affords me the opportunity to attend Congress for the first time, thus broadening my knowledge in oncology and enhancing my clinical skills. I will endeavor to encourage new oncology nurses to excel in this profession.”
Wallace received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. She is president of the Metro Detroit Chapter of ONS, a member of the ONS Radiation Oncology Special Interest Group, American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), ASTRO Radiation Oncology Nurses, and a task force member for the Cancer Prevention Study-3 for the American Cancer Society in partnership with Beaumont Health System.
