ONS Website Redesign Reaches Two New Milestones
Tuesday, March 19, 2013
In response to member feedback, ONS is in the process of redesigning our website from the ground up to offer a site entirely focused on helping oncology nurses get to the information they need as quickly and easily as possible.
The launch of two exciting developments in this process is right around the corner: a brand-new ONS profile site, as well as an expanded beta preview of our new website. More details will be available in April when each of these launches.
Beginning April 8, Accessing Your ONS Account Will Never Be Easier
All ONS and affiliate websites will be unavailable the weekend of April 5–7 to pave the way for the launch of the new ONS profile account, but we’re making every effort to minimize the downtime so that you can continue to use ONS’s online resources as seamlessly as possible. ONS will be extending the timeframes to complete online courses that carry over the weekend of April 5-7. If you’re registered for a course that’s affected, look for an email from us soon with your course’s specific details.
Fortunately, the inconvenience will be well worth it: beginning on Monday, April 8, when you log into your ONS profile account, you’ll be accessing a brand-new control panel to manage all of your ONS account information and demographics.
If you currently have an ONS profile account, you won’t need to do anything differently. Simply log in as usual using your ONS username and password. If you’ve done business with ONS before but have not used the ONS profile previously, you’re just one step away from managing your account information online. Simply contact customer service at 866-257-4ONS (4667) for an ID and PIN to activate your account. Or if you’ve never interacted with ONS before, you can sign up for a brand-new account in three easy steps: all you’ll need to do is enter your name, email, and desired password.
The new ONS profile is available on any device—desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone—so your account information will always be at your fingertips.
Get a Taste of What’s to Come on ONS.org With Our Expanded Preview Site, Launching the Week of April 8
Also the week of April 8, we’re rolling out a fully functional, expanded preview of the new ONS.org website. If you can’t wait that long to check it out, you can get a sneak peek at what the preview will offer at http://preview.ons.org.
Just like with the ONS profile, you’ll be able to easily navigate and view the expanded preview site on any device. Although you can still interact with ONS as usual on the old site, we encourage you to check out the new features that you can also access on the expanded preview site.
When it launches the week of April 8, you’ll be able to use the expanded preview site to access
- A robust clinical practice and professional resources area featuring easy-access information about ONS books, journals, clinical resource articles, position statements, and PEP information
- A store area, allowing you to purchase ONS books directly in the site
- Membership information, including a member directory
- Your ONS membership card and/or your ONS chemo provider card.
After the expanded preview site rolls out, we’ll continue to add new features as they’re complete. Our goal for mid-May is to offer information about and registration for ONS’s online CNE courses, and in July you’ll get access to quick and easy membership applications and renewals, and much, much more. Of course, you’ll still be able to continue to access everything on our old site during this process.
We hope you’re as excited about the expanded preview site and profile transition as we are, and we’re anxious to hear about how they’re meeting your needs. Send your feedback and tell us how we’re doing by using the feedback button on each site or emailing customer.service@ons.org.
