How do I make a contribution to the ONS Foundation?
A gift to the ONS Foundation is an appropriate and meaningful way to remember a loved one or a patient, or to honor a relative, friend, or associate on a special occasion. You can make a contribution using your credit card simply by calling the ONS Foundation at 866-257-4667 (International members call 412-859-6100), or visit the
ONS Foundation Web site
to learn about
online giving
.
How can I become involved in ONS at the national level?
A number of volunteer opportunities are available to members who want to participate in Society activities. Project teams are small groups brought together to work on a specific project. Advisory panels are made up of members who provide input on a variety of issues in areas such as Membership/Leadership, Education and Cancer Care Issues, or Research. For more information about the time commitment or requirements of these positions, see the
Advisory Panel/Project Team Member Application
. You'll also find periodic calls for reviewers and contributors in the
Oncology Nursing Forum
and
Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing.
In addition, SIG membership offers opportunities to become involved in a variety of work groups or volunteer roles.
Does ONS lobby on behalf of nurses or cancer care?
Yes. ONS monitors proposed and pending legislation, at both the federal and state level, that may have an impact on oncology nursing or cancer care and responds as needed to present the Society's position on the issues involved. Members can participate by enrolling in ONStat, a grassroots response program in which participants are notified when important legislation is pending and asked to contact their legislators. ONS provides ONStat participants with the names and addresses of their legislators, sample letters, and documentation that supports the Society's position. To enroll in ONStat, call the Membership/Leadership Team at 866-257-4667. International members should call 412-859-6100.
Are ONS dues tax deductible?
Ninety-five percent of your dues payment may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense for federal income tax purposes. Because 5% is used for lobbying purposes, that portion is not deductible. Other gifts or contributions to ONS are not deductible as charitable contributions; however, gifts or contributions to the ONS Foundation are.
