ONS Excellence Awards

All awards, grants, and scholarships are tentative and subject to change based on funding availability.

Award: Five awards will be given-out to five different teams. Each team’s award includes a $1,000 monetary award (to be split among the team), and a plaque.

Purpose: To recognize and support an oncology nurse or team of oncology nurses who have had a significant impact on the outcomes of nursing care delivered to patients and/or families experiencing cancer. All phases of cancer from prevention/early detection to survival and/or end-of-life care is relevant.

Nominee's Eligibility Criteria:

• At least one member of the team must be a registered professional nurse and an active ONS member

Criteria: The scoring criteria for judging this nomination packet is as follows:

The nominated team:

• Identifies and describes a clinical problem or issue related to nursing-sensitive patient outcomes
• Implements an innovative and evidence-based strategy for improving the outcomes of nursing care delivered to cancer patients
• Utilizes established measures to demonstrate the impact of specific nursing interventions on the identified outcomes in the patient population
• Disseminates information on the impact of improving a specific nursing-sensitive patient outcome
