HIV Clinical Resource Area - Diagnostic Testing

The CT scan of an AIDS related lymphoma will most likely differ from a non AIDS with an increased ring of enhancement at site of disease. Another diagnostic tool similar to non-AIDS lymphoma is evaluation of CBC results in addition to the traditional physical examination. The physical exam routinely reveals enlarged nodes in the upper torso. When indicated the practitioner may request a biopsy to confirm the suspected diagnosis. The standard bone marrow biopsy for pathology studies may be obtained as well. A sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) may also be obtained for diagnosis confirmation.
