Chemotherapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV) Clinical Resource AreaWelcome to the ONS clinical practice resource area dedicated exclusively to the treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). This resource area focuses on ways to minimize nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. Prevention and control of nausea and vomiting is critical in the treatment of patients with cancer. Untreated CINV can result in metabolic imbalances, anorexia, weight loss, and, in more serious cases, changes in mental status, esophageal tears, fractures, wound dehiscence, and potential treatment breaks. Despite significant advances in pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments, CINV endures as one of the most feared side effects of cancer and its treatment.
