Complementary and Alternative Therapies
The use of complementary and alternative therapies by people with cancer is a growing trend. As many as one-third of Americans who see traditional health professionals also use herbal remedies, although they are often unwilling to share this information. Reportedly, 50-83% of patients with cancer use complementary and alternative therapies.

Targeted Therapies
Targeted therapies due to the effect they exhert on the cancer cells, have a different side effect profile than conventional chemotherapy agents. Some of the side effects may also be an indication that the tumor will respond to treatment. However the side effects may also cause a patient to want to stop treatment, due to discomfort and appearance. It is important as health care professionals to institute measures to prevent to reduce the severity of these side effects so that patients are receiving optimal therapy.
