ONS Trainer Courses

ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Trainer Course
April 27, 2004 • 8 am-5 pm

This trainer course covers the fundamentals of presenting the ONS Cancer Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Course, including principles of adult learning, teaching techniques, and practical suggestions for logistical concerns. It also provides trainers with suggestions for making their programs profitable and promoting their trainers. Applications for the Trainer Course are due February 28, 2005.

To be eligible to become a trainer, nurses must be an ONS member and have a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing or a health-related field and a current ONS Cancer Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card, have a minimum of two years' experience administering chemotherapy, and have experience as a presenter of educational content.

The fee for the ONS Cancer Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Trainer Course is $675. Nurses who attend this course in its entirety will earn 6.3 contact hours following submission of an evaluation form.

ONS Radiation Therapy Trainer Course
April 27, 2005 • Noon-5 pm

This trainer course will prepare you to teach the ONS Radiation Therapy Course, a one-day program designed for inpatient or ambulatory-care oncology nurses who care for patients receiving radiation therapy. This comprehensive trainer course will address content that will be covered in the RT Course as well as logistics of presenting the course. Applications for the Trainer Course are due February 28, 2005.

To be eligible to become a Radiation Therapy Course trainer, registered nurses must have a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing or a health-related field, maintain a current ONS membership, have a minimum of three years' radiation oncology nursing experience working in a radiation oncology department, and have experience presenting professional nursing-education content.

The fee for the Radiation Therapy Trainer Course is $550. Nurses who attend the course in its entirety will earn 4.5 contact hours following submission of an evaluation form.
