Participate

I love my membership and think the statement "Where Oncology Nurses Connect" truly applies. By connecting with each other, we support, educate, empower, and encourage each other in promoting the best oncology care to our patients and the community.

Getting involved in ONS at the national level is easier than you think. Please review these opportunities for involvement and find one that’s a good fit for you. For more information on these or any other activities available through ONS, Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, ONS Foundation, or ONSEdge, call the numbers listed or visit the appropriate Web link.

ONS Leadership Opportunities (PDF file)
We know you’re busy, but we encourage you to make time to get involved with ONS. Participating in the Society will help you improve oncology nursing and patient care. Some take only a few hours, while others require a larger time commitment. You pick the ones that fit your schedule.

ONS Advisory Panel/Project Teams
Advisory panel members provide consultation to staff and assess priority oncology nursing issues and ways to address them in the areas of cancer care issues, professional issues, membership/leadership, publishing, and research.

Members interested working on organizational projects identified by the Steering Council, ONS Board or the staff should apply for a Project Team. Project teams will fall under the following areas: cancer care issues, professional issues, membership/leadership, and research.

Recruit ONS Members
Get involved in the ONS Member-Bring-A-Member Campaign (MBAM) and become eligible for valuable rewards including discounted or free education, tee shirts, etc.

ONS Mentoring Programs
ONS offers members the opportunity to gain and provide peer support and guidance through a variety of targeted mentoring programs.

Call for CJON Reviewers
The CJON review board is composed of oncology nurses who enjoy reading and evaluating the work of their colleagues. Reviewers are sent manuscripts in their areas of expertise but may decline a request for a manuscript review because of scheduling constraints. Reviewers critique approximately four to six manuscripts per year and offer guidance to authors as they work toward publication in CJON.

Call for ONF Reviewers
Reviewers are needed for all topic areas and from all educational levels, especially those who are doctorally prepared. Experienced reviewers, members new to reviewing, and associate members with specific expertise are most welcome.

Oncology Nurses Worldwide
The goal of this program is to develop meaningful relationships between nurses from around the world. This program gives members a chance to discuss the current issues the nursing profession is facing.

Steering Council Application
Do you want to work with colleagues to turn goals into useful products and programs? If so, apply for a position on the ONS Steering Council. We are looking for members with skills or experience in program or project planning; applying research concepts to clinical practice, management, and educational programs and published products; and strong written and verbal communication skills.
