ONS Hires Executive Director of Professional Practice and Programs

Pittsburgh, PA – April 19, 2011 – The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) has hired Elizabeth Wertz Evans, RN, BSN, MPM, FACMPE, CPHQ, CPHIMS, to serve as executive director of professional practice and programs. She will lead ONS’s division that oversees education, publishing, research, library/archives, and international initiatives.
“Liz brings an extensive healthcare background and diverse professional experience in clinical and operational aspects of healthcare to her new role,” commented Paula Rieger, RN, MSN, CAE, FAAN, chief executive officer of ONS.
A registered nurse, Evans’ background is in patient safety and quality improvement, health information technology, practice management, strategic planning, education, and training. Her range of experience in both hospitals and physician practices has proven to be instrumental in defining management and knowledge requirements for achieving excellence. She also has a wealth of experience in professional associations, serving in a variety of roles.
Before joining ONS, Evans was the CEO of Pediatric Alliance, the largest independent, physician-owned pediatric group practice in Pittsburgh. She is completing her doctoral degree in organization and management through Capella University.
