Jill Hamilton, PhD, RN, Receives ONS Publishing Division Award

Jill  Hamilton, PhD, RN, is the recipient of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Publishing Division’s Excellence in Writing Award for Qualitative Nursing Research. Hamilton is an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The award recognizes her article, “Perceptions of Support Among Older African American Cancer Survivors,” published in the ONS journal, Oncology Nursing Forum, as an outstanding scholarly presentation in the area of qualitative nursing research. Charles E. Moore, MD, Barbara D. Powe, PhD, RN, Mansi Agarwal, MPH, & Pamela Martin, PhD are co-authors of the article.

“I am grateful to ONS for recognizing my research and this excellence in writing award for qualitative nursing research,” said Hamilton. “However, I am even more grateful to this organization for valuing research conducted among underserved cancer populations and specifically for allowing the voices of these older African American cancer survivors to be heard.”  

Hamilton received her bachelor and master’s of science in nursing degree, and her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
