Wendy Vogel, MSN, FNP, AOCNP®, Receives 2012 Oncology Nursing Society Mary Nowotny Excellence in Cancer Nursing Education Award

Wendy Vogel, MSN, FNP, AOCNP® is the recipient of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Mary Nowotny Excellence in Cancer Nursing Education Award for 2012. Vogel is an oncology nurse practitioner at Kingsport Hematology Oncology Associates in Kingsport, TN. The award recognizes and supports excellence in cancer nursing education and is named in memory of Dr. Mary Nowotny, a past chair of the ONS Education Committee and a well-known oncology nurse educator and teacher. Vogel was recognized for this award at ONS’s recent 37th Annual Congress in New Orleans, LA.
“To even be nominated for the Mary Nowotny Excellence Award is an honor,” said Vogel. “Passing on the love of oncology nursing is my passion. To be awarded for following my passion is magnificent!”
Vogel received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN, and her master’s of science in nursing degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. She is an active member of ONS, the ONS Nurse Practitioner Special Interest Group, and the Northeast Tennessee Nurse Practitioner Association.
