White House Goes Pink to Raise Awareness for Breast Cancer

At 6:30 p.m. October 14, the White House was bathed in a soft pink light to make a public statement about breast cancer awareness month. President Obama officially declared October National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, saying, “As we display pink ribbons on our lapels, offices, and storefronts, we also support those courageously fighting breast cancer and honor the lives lost to this devastating disease.” Read the official proclamation.
