Latest "Heart-to-Heart" Audio Program Addresses Cultural Diversity and End-of-Life Care

State Initiatives in End-of-Life Care has released "Cultural Diversity and Discrimination," a new audio program for educating state policy makers on issues relating to end-of-life care. This program is the latest in the 4-part series titled Heart-to-Heart: Improving Care for the Dying through Public Policy.

"Cultural Diversity and Discrimination" explores the dual challenges of providing culturally sensitive treatment and equal access to good end-of-life care. Perspectives on death and dying are often influenced by cultural and religious values. When these values are at odds with the prevailing standards of good end-of-life care, alienation and miscommunication between patients and doctors may occur. Listen as ten leading experts describe innovative solutions and model programs to address cultural miscommunication and discrimination in end-of-life care. To hear a sample of the program and obtain information on how to order, click here.

The Heart-to-Heart series explores key state policy issues that impact end-of-life care though interviews with experts in the field, state policy leaders, and patients and their loved ones. These high-quality audio programs weave together dynamic interviews with original music, professional narration, documentary scenes, and ambient sound effects. The series is offered in convenient audio cassette format that can be used while commuting or doing other things. The cost is $12 per cassette, plus shipping and handling. Special offers are available for large orders. For information, click here or call the Partnership for Caring at 800-989-9455.
