Pain
The purpose of this website is to provide you with evidence-based oncology nursing interventions for pain that can be used in the clinical setting. To obtain additional information about the references and levels of evidence used in the nursing interventions, visit to the appropriate links below.
Definitions
To improve nursing-sensitive patient outcomes, it is essential to have a detailed description of the interventions. Definitions for the interventions and terminology found on the Pain ONS PEP® Cards are included here.
PEP Resources Are Being Updated!
Coming in May, look for all-new, updated PEP Resources in a new book from ONS. This new book will have the updated ONS PEP Resources, assessment, and measurement tools as well as providing ideas for patient care and organizational use, and case studies to illustrate application of the resources. At this time, there are no plans to make available printed versions of the updated PEP cards outside the contents of the book.

The References section provides all the references cited in the Pain ONS PEP resources. The numbers found on the Pain ONS PEP cards, tables, and definitions correspond to the same number listed next to the full citation on the reference list.
