Every year, the ONS membership elects candidates to serve a three year term on the ONS Board of Directors. Interested candidates are welcome to reach out to the current members of the ONS Board of Directors to better understand these commitments on a more individualistic level.
ONS would like to thank everyone that participated in 2021's election and we are proud to announce the newest members of the ONS Board of Directors: Valerie Burger, RN, MA, MS, OCN®, CPN, Danya Garner, MSN, RN, OCN®, CCRN-K®, NPD-BC, and Patricia Geddie, PhD, APRN, AOCNS®, FCNS. Their terms will commence May 1, 2021 and run through 2024.

ONS also offers a Leadership Competencies Self Assessment for individuals who want to learn more about their own leadership competencies. Upon completion of this survey, you will be provided with suggestions of learning activities (e.g. videos, articles, courses, etc) and experiences (e.g. find a mentor, interview someone in a role, etc.) you can do to expand your leadership skills. Please note your information will be sent to the Learning Development Committee, but does not guarantee they will contact you directly.

Candidate applicants for the ONS Board of Directors should be voting ONS members for no less than five years prior to assuming office. A member in good standing is one who meets the regular, early-career professional, physically challenged, or retired membership category; is an RN engaged in or interested in oncology nursing; and has paid the required dues. Student, associate, and international tiered members may not vote or hold ONS office.
