  • Side Effect and Symptom Management: protective agents, hematologic toxicities, gastrointestinal toxicities, cardiac toxicity, pulmonary toxicity, skin toxicity, bone effects, peripheral neuropathy, cognitive impairment, fatigue, pain, sleep disturbances, sexual alterations, lymphedema, ascites
  • Oncologic Emergencies: metabolic oncologic emergencies (hypercalcemia, SIAHS, TLS, DIC, sepsis and septic shock, hypersensitivity reaction), structural oncologic emergencies (superior vena cava syndrome, spinal cord compression, cardiac tamponade, increased intracranial pressure)

Expected Outcome

Upon completion of this activity, the learner will demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based guidelines for the assessment and management of disease- and treatment-related effects in patients with cancer by achieving at least 80% on the post-test.

Target Audience

This course is designed for APNs with oncology experience who want to increase their knowledge about critical components of the APN role in cancer care. This course is also appropriate for APNs preparing for advanced oncology certification or renewal via ILNA renewal points.
