Congress Content Planning Team

The Congress content planning team is responsible for identifying and working with conference speakers on assigned session topics from the conference agenda. Volunteers in this role are expected to plan, implement, and evaluate educational offerings that address current practice issues identified by ONS and the needs of the target audience. Applications are reviewed by the Congress team leader, and telephone interviews are conducted for selection. Congress content planning team members must be an ONS member in good standing. 

Time Commitment

Participants spend one year on the team, with the opportunity to reapply for a second year. There is also the potential to serve as team leader in your second or third year. The time commitment includes

  • Monthly conference calls of a 90-minute duration
  • 10–20 hours working with speakers prior to the conference 
  • Handling on-site conference logistics for the entirety of Congress
  • Monitoring Congress sessions


There are two in-person meetings at the ONS national office in Pittsburgh, PA, the first is June 28–30, 2018, and January 18–19, 2019. Participants also spend 5–6 days at the conference, in Anaheim, CA, April 10–14, 2019.
