For example, 90%–95% of patients with breast cancer receive various combinations of surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. Because patients have unique needs depending on the treatment they’re receiving, oncology nurses need to have an understanding and general knowledge of the variety of therapeutic options for patients with cancer.
