ONS engages oncology nurses throughout the country, connecting them virtually to elected officials, policy leaders, and decision makers via video conferencing, telephone interviews, and podcasts.
It is critical that oncology nurses understand the latest research, guidelines, and evidence-based practices in access devices. With the latest edition of Access Device Guidelines: Recommendations for Nursing Practice and Education, nurses can explore a foundation for practice and support in their day-to-day care of patients with cancer.
Every year, new officers are selected to serve a three-year term on the ONS Board of Directors. Interested candidates are welcome to reach out to the current members of the ONS Board of Directors to better understand these commitments on a more individualistic level.

"I was able to spend one-on-one time with one of the nurses on the inpatient women’s oncology ward [of Hospital San Juan de Dios]. She acknowledged that there is no formal nursing education program at the hospital. As well, nurses do not receive much education during their orientation and certainly do not receive ongoing nursing education once they have been hired. She and I agreed to keep in contact; she will act as a liaison and will share any information with her colleagues that I send." Reanne Booker
