This course provides a comprehensive overview of the treatment of cancer for the advanced practice provider, including important concepts related to antineoplastics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, goals of therapy, clinical trials, and treatment response.
In this four-part series, you’ll meet John, a 67-year-old Black man with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and his daughter Margaret. Follow them through his diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life decisions while considering the impact of race on his care. Case studies will focus on access to biomarker testing, treatment decision-making, enrollment in clinical trials, and end-of-life care. Many of the scenarios incorporate the use of telemedicine throughout John’s cancer journey and the opportunities and barriers it may present in his care.
