The nurse navigator is an evolving role in oncology care. Navigators ensure access to care, facilitate care coordination, and promote optimal outcomes across the care continuum. This program provides a foundational knowledge of the role for those new to the navigation role. The Equipping the Oncology Nurse Navigator program was designed by expert nurse navigators, and is intended to supplement a navigator's orientation to the role. It provides an overview of critical elements to the navigator role including care coordination, reducing barriers to care, patient advocacy. This program was developed in a partnership with the Oncology Nursing Society and the Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators.

This course was designed to meet the educational needs of oncology nurse navigators new the role, and others interested in gaining a fundamental understanding of oncology care coordination. Individuals who may benefit from this course include novice nurse navigators seeking to supplement onsite orientation and training nurses, and experienced nurse navigators seeking review information.
Up to 3.75 ILNA points may be applied to Care Continuum OR Cancer Continuum OR Oncology Nursing Practice. No more than 3.75 total points may be claimed for the program.
