This course will provide foundational knowledge on the basic principles of cancer and the evaluation and diagnosis of cancer for the advanced practice provider. Topics such as cell biology, carcinogenesis, the immune system, genomics, prevention and screening, diagnosis and staging, and treatment planning using breast cancer as an exemplar for the advanced practice provider will be reviewed. 

This course is designed for new to practice advanced practice providers, new-to-oncology clinicians, recent graduates of APP programs, and APPs of other specialties who take care of patients with cancer. It is intended to meet the educational needs of advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and clinical nurse specialists) in all clinical settings with limited or no prior oncology experience or knowledge and who are interested in identifying advanced concepts in oncology care. Experienced APPs may have interest in taking this course as a refresher in the core concepts of advanced practice cancer care. 

The course consists of an interactive, e-learning format while the participant will navigate the clinical content through exploration and discovery. This innovative course offering provides a learner-centric designed course that allows for exploration and discovery of critical content, with interactive knowledge checks throughout the course to enforce key concepts and objectives.
