Distinguished Awards

These awards recognize individuals for their career achievements and for their outstanding contributions to cancer care. Each includes a $2,000 award, a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend the ONS Annual Congress. 

These awards are granted to ONS members who have been nominated by another member. The nomination cycle will open in the spring with nominations due on September 30th.

  • Distinguished Award for Consistent Contribution to Nursing Literature

    Recognize an ONS member who makes consistent and significant contributions to oncology nursing literature.

  • Lifetime Achievement Award

    Recognize an ONS member who makes outstanding contributions to the field of oncology nursing and to ONS, someone who has been an important leader within the Society and his or her community.

  • Distinguished Researcher Award

    Recognize the contributions of an ONS member who conducts or promotes research that enhances the science and practice of oncology nursing. The recipient will present his or her research results at the ONS Annual Congress.

  • Honorary Member Award

    This award honors an individual who is not otherwise eligible for membership, who makes significant contributions to oncology nursing, has a history of supporting ONS, and exhibits conduct consistent with the mission and core values of the Society. Winners receive a plague, round-trip airfare to ONS Annual Congress and a one-day per diem for Congress.
